I joined this group a long time ago just to get ideas about recipes to feed my son.

However after being on here and learning about the vegan lifestyle I must say you have all been living the way I have been wanting to for 29 years!

So here is my official goodbye to Meat and animal byproducts.

And hello to the new me!

Thank you to everyone here for opening my eyesbiggrin

Hi! I've been dairy-free for years but only three months ago gave up meat and eggs after reading, "The Kind Diet." As a "newbe," I had lots of questions and didn't completely understand what I was doing as far as the basics of what I should be eating. The Vegan Food Pyramid and the "Vegan Coach" helped answer those questions for me.

Also, here is a link to a blog I absolutely LOVE! We all know that being a vegan/vegetarian doesn't automatically mean "healthy," so this blog with it's recipes and beautiful pics has been a invaluable to me. (Btw for a treat, I highly recommend the Can't Be Beet Chocolate Cake - Yum!)

Congratulations on your new lifestyle! Have fun exploring and trying new things...Enjoy! smile

Vadim,
You're cute :) Of course you know what I mean....

You're more loving when you choose the Love diet. So "you're what you eat", no? I philosophized too much ha ha...

Just an update.. I was worried about how I was going to "survive" but I can't believe how much better I am feeling now. In just a few days my mood has improved I have tons of energy. Added bonus I have already dropped 4 lbs!!

The Kind Diet has become my biblewink.

My 7 yr old is very curious about becoming a vegetarian now. I am not forcing him but he really has become grossed out by meat. We have not had it our home for over a year due to food allergies but when we were doing something he always had a chance to get a burger or chicken. However recently he has only wanted salads.

When he was at his Grandma's last weekend he refused to eat his chicken breast. She told him he had to eat it. He stood up and told her that " Meat is disgusting and it is not good for you"
She told him it was good for him and he ended up in an argument with her that lasted over 10 minutes. He never ate the chicken.
He was so proud that he stood up for himself and was ecstatic to come home and tell me about his argument with her. I couldn't stop laughing, he acted out the entire "discussion" he had with her. I was grinning ear to ear.

Since then he has not wanted meat. However, he still says he can not give up his ranch dressing so he couldn't go vegan until I found a recipe he likes that was vegan Ranch dressing.

Any Suggestions??

I can't thank everyone enough for the kind words, encouragement, and suggestions. It truly means a lot to me!

4 lbs in ten days seems a bit much... Are you sure you're getting the proper nutrition? A vegan diet can be very healthy if it's well-balanced, but losing weight that fast makes me think you may be missing something. Be sure to get your iron and B12!
