I see Kimberly's note about this movie being played in Hinsdale this coming friday. This would actually be much easier for me to attend but I'm not only going to only see the movie, I'm mostly going to meet the groupies (my first event). Any chance of making this friday's showing an group event? :)

And by the way, how does it work Vadim? Since I won't know anybody how do we find ourselves within the larger bunch of people?

@Paul - I don't foresee any changes to this event. We often offer name tags to our members which usually helps to socialize and mingle. I don't expect a very big crowd for this event so it should not be a problem in any case. Look forward to meet you at the event!

For those who are looking to see if the snow is stopping everyone from coming...I'll be there, I hope you're there too :)

Thanks Paul. Yes, the event will happen regardless of snow and how many people will show up! Actually I may use some help at the event so if someone doesn't mind to help me with printing the attendee list, come about 20 minutes before the event, and help me to greet our members, check them off the list and pass name tags, please send me a private message. Thank you in advance!

It's impossible to know exactly when you can get there with the traffic but if I'm there early I'll be a greeter and if there already is a greeter I'll be the co-greeter making sure all the names get spelled incorrectly.

This was my first meetup and I wasn't surprised to see plant based foodies are healthy and attractive. The feeling was relaxed, open minded. genuine. Vadim who must put a lot of time and energy into this...and I thank him...was easy to like as a person, got everyone involved in the discussion, who wanted to get involved and this was important. How nice it was to be in a room full of people that are individuals.

It was good to see over half of the audience who were omnivores. It feels like it was a good outreach event!

I read the book Forks Over Knives but it was really marvelous to get together with a group of like-minded people and re-affirm the why behind my choices. It was also excellent to be able to see some of the individual people in the movie who were experiencing real success with reversing disease and healing their bodies through food choices. Their successes spoke so positively about the importance and direct impact our food choices have on how we feel--daily. It was also great to learn about local farming options--I especially appreciated the comment from Bill (a local farmer with greenhouse space in St. Charles etc) who taught me that fruits and vegetables receive the bulk of their minerals and nutrients 2 - 3 days before ripening-- That is another reason that buying produce from a local, organic farmer (with dirt under their fingernails) is vitally important. It makes so much sense, but, I know that I am so far removed from good farming practices that it was a new lesson.
