Looking for a fun and exciting way to get back in shape and learn about nutrition - while supporting Chicago’s favorite humane education organization, HEART? Well, look no further!
Why do we want to support HEART?
HEART goes to schools in Chicago, and enriches the curriculum with lessons that teaches students to be kind to people, animals, and the environment.
One of the many important issues we cover through our ten lesson program is factory farming. For this lesson, we teach the students empathy for farmed animals, and why it is important for compassionate individuals to help nonhuman animals. Using this same interactive approach, we teach lessons on issues such as dog fighting, habitat destruction, and child labor.
At the event (from 1:00pm to 2:30pm), participants will have the opportunity to:
Take part in three 15-minute workouts led by Monkey Bar Gym physical trainers
Sample delicious (and healthy) foods from Whole Foods
Participate in a plant-based discussion with nutrition experts, addressing common concerns like where to get protein on a plant-based diet
Receive a cloth swag bag full of goodies and decorated by a HEART student
HEART offered a special discount price of $10 (regular price is $15) for the event tickets to all ChicagoVeg members. I will bring my flip cam. I think the best way to make a video is for multiple people to shoot video. I will be glad to edit it down afterward, if people can stay and edit with me.
