Gill's home
This year, again, we invite everyone for Our 2nd Annual 'Save the Turkeys' Potluck Feast, at the Welcoming Gillono home!
Please join us for this fun and heart warming celebration with your fellow Veg*ns!
Your hosts (Gill, Mark, Patch~ouli & Snow*, the Vegan Rescued PitBulls) ask us to bring only vegan (strictly plant based ingredients) dish to pass. For everyones' benefit please state what type of dish you plan to bring in your RSVP comments. If you have an instrument or a drum, too, for an impromptu drum circle or would like to share a poem, song or other reading materials, please feel free to bring them. Let's express our Gratitude in a Communal, Cruelty-free way!
We will provide a free craft project for anyone who would like to participate! Here you can make a card for someone in your life whom you want to express your gratitude. It could be a family member, a spouse or partner, a favorite employee somewhere that you shop, or maybe a public service worker. There will be a variety of fun art materials for you to use in the creation of your special card. Participation in this project is optional.
For the kids, we will have a pine cone turkey craft, a word search, maze and coloring sheet. Tattoos too!
As an alternative to driving, people can take the BNSF train from Union Station to Rt 59 ; pickups will be arranged from the Rt 59 train station. The exact Gillono address will be sent a day before the event to only those who RSVP Yes. Please use "Talk about this Meetup" area in the bottom of the event page to offer/ask for rides and post any general questions or comments. Please be sensitive to the fact that whenever you post in the "Talk about this Meetup" area the email will be sent to all the members who RSVP Yes for the event. To minimize the number of emails, if you would like to respond to or address a specific person, please contact him/her directly through the person's profile instead of posting on the event page.
Feel free to contact Gill directly for her address or any other questions regarding the event at http://www.chicagoveg.org/message/?recipientId=1943956
**Just Added: There will be a fun door prize & a some other raffle items plus info on how to be in a Much larger raffle for Wagner Farm Rescue/Have a Heart to be drawn in January 2011...Don't Miss out!
It's Mark's as well as Patch~ouli & Snowy's house, too!!
I recently heard that there was discussion regarding your potluck offerings, but I dont see the questions. Yes, this will be a PURELY Vegan Potluck Feast. NO Animal products including Dairy, Eggs, cheese or any derivatives are allowed in Our Vegan home, Thank you.
If you have an instrument or a drum, too, for an impromptu drum circle or would like to share a poem, song or other reading materials, please feel free to bring them. Let's express our Gratitude in a Communal, Cruelty-free way! & PLEASE bring a folding chair or several if you have them, Thanks !
If anybody is going in from the city, I could use a ride. I will need to get there before the event starts.
Anybody going through downtown or north part of chicago? Need a ride ::
Just added to the event! For the children at the potluck I will be leading an adorable pine cone turkey craft!!!
I will have room for up to 4 people(1 more may be possible, but am not sure yet). I will be headed from the south side of Chicago between 3:00 and 3:30 and can meet people near the downtown area(Precise location will be posted by the morning of the event probably near a red line train exit) around 3:15 to 3:45(again I'll post the precise time with a 15 minute wait time by the morning of the event). First come first served. Drop off details will be forthcoming.
I believe that product contains egg, Oscar. You can bring a Tofurkey which is vegan. :)
I will be bringing Tofurkey Loaf and organic cranberry sauce.
Anne, Thank you for putting together the kid's craft. I have a 8 year old son, are many children coming? If so, I'd be happy to bring another craft, or game. We (my son and myself), are bringing roasted brussel sprouts, and sweet potatoes roasted and drizzled with olive oil and Kosher salt - so earthy & delicious. Susan
PS: We reside in North Shore area, and can offer ride to 2 people - so if you live City north or Evanston, etc it is a good logistical match for those without wheels.
Everybody, please remember that you will need to bring a chair or something to sit on.
Please make sure your dish to share is Vegan. Thanks. Anne I totally appreciate your Awesome crafting volunteer ideas & I think there will be between 4-6 kids. Can't wait to meet All of you! We do have 2 silly, sweet, somewhat hyper rescued PitBull dogs that adore everyone :)
hi everyone, could use a ride for me and a friend, live on southwest side, but could travel anywhere in city to meet up.
Just a note, My husband & I just had a Meetup potluck at our home this weekend, 16 people on the list on Friday, 3 people said they weren't coming on line during the day Saturday. Sat. night came and one person showed. Thank goodness we had food to serve because all the key dishes didn't show. So I'm suggesting putting up your dish early so others know what to bring. if you are not showing be curtious and give ample time, others are on a waiting list, make a dish/person you're bringing.ty Gill
Hello--It ends up now I am going. I am coming from Evanston and can take 3 or 4 others. Please feel free to call me after working hours or shoot me an email. Anne Gadon--312-375-3631
I am going in the Metra BNSF line that gets to Route 59 at 3.39pm. Gill is having somebody pick me up. If anybody else is planning to ride the Metra, consider taking the same train as me, so it is easier for our hosts to pick us all up at the same time.
I now have room for 3 people. I will be at the CTA Redline Roosevelt Station exit at 1167 S. State St. at 3:30pm and I will wait for up to 15 minutes. Please send me a message if you are interested in riding with me. I will be staying for approximately 3 hours (4:30pm-7:30pm).
We will be bring roasted sweet potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts. Evergreen
I have gathered a basket of books & beanie babies for kids in attendance to rescue/adopt :)
& Please Remember to bring a container for your leftovers :)
I have 4 folding chairs I will bring. One for me and three extras for anyone who doesn't have a chair or something to sit on.
It turns out that Metra is running on hoiday schedule, so I will take the train that gets to Route 59 at 3:50pm. Please consider taking the same train if you intend to use the Metra.
