March 20th is World Meatout Day! You are invited to join us in promoting a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle in solidarity with other teams around the world. You can choose either to come help us or simply hang out with us.

ChicagoVeg will be hosting a feed-in to celebrate and encourage vegetarianism. From 11am-3pm, we will be camped on the Magnificent Mile stocked with vegan samplers (courtesy of Vegfund), leaflets on the meat industry (courtesy of Meatout), and raffle prizes. We will be on the corner of Monroe and Michigan Ave., or somewhere in the area.

We need volunteers to talk to onlookers and dole out vegan treats. If you can help please indicate what times you will be available in your RSVP (you can volunteer for a 1, 2, or 3-hour shift). If you would like to donate food/prizes to the event or help to organize, please use the Talk About This Meetup area below the event description or e-mail Jackie directly at [masked].

We look forward to seeing all of you at the event regardless if you can help or just wish to hang out with us!

Jackie did a fabulous job organizing this event. The weather put a lot of the people on the street in a bad mood...so it was harder than I expected to hand out free samples! But it was still fun and worth it to go.

    •  It was a well-arranged event, but the weather was unexpectedly awful
    •  The weather did not cooperate. It would have been a wonderful event if it was sunny and warm today as it is supposed to be the 1st day of spring but unluckily we got snowed down. Despite of that we were there and there were people who were openminded enough to accept the pamphlets and sample vegan treats.
    •  It was a lot of fun! Too bad the weather was so nasty...I think it would have been more successful had it been sunny and warm.
    •  Unfortunately I got there late, around 3:00 pm. A meeting I attended on NW side of Chgo broke up later than scheduled and I did not get on the bus in Des Plaines until 1:20 pm. Took the bus to Harlem Ave Blue Line to Monroe & walked 5 blocks east to Michigan Ave. Apparently everyone had already packed up and left by the time I got there. It is ok - the walk in the sleety snow was invigorating. Made some hot apple cider with cinnamon when I got home.
